More music recs, please!

Suddenly, in the past 24 hours, I have become more interested in pursuing new music than I've been in years. Maybe decades. Yesterday, rikibeth (bless her heart!) gave me a bountiful list of ska recommendations, all of which utterly r0x0r. Now I want more! I started out looking specifically for motivational workout music, and that's still a priority, but I'd love a pointer to anything beautiful or quirky or atmospheric, too. Tell me who your favorite outstanding and interesting artists are. Give me links!

Come on, I know a lot of you folks like to pimp your favorite new finds. Lay it on me.

And while we’re on the subject, you should really check out my husband's stuff if you haven't already done so. He's dreamy :)

Necro-Tone! (sp00ky surf)

I have a bunch of other bands listed as "my space" friends, many of them have samples on their profiles.

And, I did an add-request thingy, if that's okay.

That CD I made you the last time I was out has a lot of my workout music on it.

Cool. Now if I can just find it in the chaos of our house. (Do you happen to remember if you wrote anything on it?)

In case you didn't see it, Vienna Teng is my new CD-on-repeat. There are mp3s at her site, and her albums are on iTunes. (I don't recommend ordering from her site, as I ordered her second album 5 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived.)

You can also still hit my flist album post in my LJ for some good stuff, if you didn't get it all already. The links are all still active.

And I just went through my library. I'll upload stuff shortly. ;)

Hey, I wonder if Vienna Teng was who EJ was playing for us when we went to visit her recently. The name sounds very familiar.

E and I had fun going through your flist albumn when you posted it.

Also, thanks very much, hon!

Not ska, but definitely fun
Rathkeltair. Neil Anderson, the bagpipe player and about half the time lead singer, used to be in Seven Nations, as did the drummer. Trevor Tanner, the guitarist, is formerly of The Bolshoi; Collier Hyam, the bass player, is also really good and quirky and dead cute. Celtic and originals with a warped sensibility. Live, they cover "Blister in the Sun" with the lead riff on low D whistle.

very much liking the autumn thieves who are like joy division, with a girl singer. and colin got me to pick up halou's wiser, which is on the dreamy end of things, and i really like povi, which goes well in a playlist with both.
