Mystery Illness

It seems I'm sick. Got a moderately high fever, which hovers around 102 or so. Nothing to rush to the hospital over, but uncomfortable. I ache everywhere, and I've got the chills and fatigue. No appetite, but the food stays down fine if I force it. No respiratory symptoms at all.

So I have nooooo idea what it could be. Weird.

Am thinking of reading some Lovecraft. Any other suggestions for ways to have fun with semi-delerious brain?

Watching "Eraserhead" followed by "Mulholland Drive" followed by "Forbidden Zone". Then mineral salts bath.

Sounds like you have an icky virus. Bleach. Morrigan has been running a fever all day as well...around 102. Not sure if the cause is her teeth or what. She has been kind of droopy since Monday...Amy and I were noticing the extra clingy.

Anyhoo. Rest up and know that your girl and I love you lots. Oh, the boy too. :)

Somehow I've got the awful feeling that this is all my fault. Should've kept myself and my damn germs home last weekend.

My solution to just about any illness is to put a shot of burbon in a steaming cup of Celestial Seasonings Orange Zinger tea, sweetened to taste with a bit of honey.

Try that after the mineral salt bath and go to bed.

Bed is my other favorite cure for what ails.

I have inherited from my father a remarkable ability to sleep off almost anything. So, I stayed horizontal all day yesterday. It helped tremendously.

That's good to hear. Usually if I can stay in bed for the first day of a cold or whatever, I can shake it pretty fast, too. However, if I try to force myself to try to play thru it, I end up much worse off.

If I remember correctly, "At the Mountains of Madness" features giant albino penguins. Just like my fondest childhood memories!

Wow, penguins must have seemed like really exotic monstrosities to people in HPL's day.

Oh, I can't write poetry when I'm in peak condition! Course, maybe that means I *should* try while sick?

Pick any DVD you have that has alternate language sountracks on it.

Start watching in a language you don't speak.

An excellent suggestion.

BTW, it may be a good thing you weren't at Beltane. It seems this plague largely effects those of the fiery persuasion.

So I've gathered. (I'm having enough troubles with sinuses/allergies as it is.)

Are you feeling better?

I will put a healing candle on the altar for you, and if you like I am always willing to send Reiki energy.

Love you, and will be wishing you a quick trip to better.

Wish you luck in getting better soon! Maybe there is something going around, not that I'm sick, but I've needed to blow my nose today.

Dad told me once to keep busy while resting. Videos are a great way to keep yourself entertained. Work on some kind of project--maybe hand sewing or beading. Internet is good too, if you can stand it while being sick. Be sure to drink tons of water and juice. That is the way to break up a fever. Rest with a cool compress too. Sleep as much as you can-not so much that you end up staying up all night. Junk Food (no ice cream) always helps too.

Blaming the cats or ex boyfriends always helps too.
Also I heard that eating an onion sandwich shortens the length of the virus so if your stomach can stand it, Try it.

Email me if you have any other ?'s. Here is a hot lemonade recipe:

Hot Lemonade Recipe

Juice several lemons, then scrub the peel well, slice it thinly, and add to the juice. Cover all with plenty of boiling water, cover, and steep until cool. For added benefit, add several slices of ginger root before covering with water. Strain off the liquid, add honey and additional water to taste; drink hot. The lemon fights infection, cools the body, and cuts mucus, the honey provides nourishment and antibacterial action, and the ginger will settle your stomach and help you sweat out a fever.

Aw. Thanks for all the great suggestions, MG! I'm actually starting to feel better today. I used Dad's patented Goldsmith Sleeping Cure. I just stayed horizontal for almsot 36 hours, and now the fever's gone. Hurray. It was kinda interesting while it lasted (things which normally wouldn't be funny seemed very funny indeed) but I'm glad it's over.

Thanks, hon. If your symptoms include a runny nose, then it's probably not what I'm fighting off. I think I've just had some nasty type of virus that causes fever and aches. But no nose or chest problems.

Anyway, even if it's just pollen, you should get some extra rest!

Whatever you do, don't take a bunch of NyQuil and then watch Teletubbies with the sound turned down and replaced by Marilyn Manson's "Dope Show." Um. Because that would be bad.
