Little Details

Even though I'm exhausted, and have got a huge, big work day ahead of me, I feel this profound need to document all the cool stuff we're doing (except for the work on the truck, which is still not working properly after E has replaced no fewer than THREE significant pieces of it... no, I don't feel like documenting that. Because it sucks. Moving along...)

Speaking of E, he proves again what a clever costumer he is by engineering a cuff closure solution that sidesteps the fact that we don't have enough of the right kind of grommets. He sewed on buttons and used an old elastic hair tie to make stretchy loops that obviate the need for lacing. He's so smart.

Here's a detail of the Irish Dress and leine (which, since we can't learn the actual Gaelic pronunciation, we are affectionately referring to as a "Lenny.")

Here's a close-up of the fabric on the dress:

And here, gods help me, are some very beautiful heirloom beans, called "Tiger's eyes". Yeah, I realize it makes me a hopeless dingbat that I am in love with these gorgeous legumes, but I am. I bought them online and have been saving them for a special occasion, and they are going into "benes yfryed" for the feast on Saturday:

'kay. One more hour of cooking, then bed. Wish me luck, OK?
