My Favorite Klingon Proverb

bI'IQchugh yIvang!

This translates to "If you are sad, act!" The reason I am posting this, at great risk of being called a geek, is out of my love for all of you. I felt really rotten this morning, and then I buckled down and got a bunch of work done. I cannot tell you how much better I feel after only an hour of concerted effort on a task I was really dreading.

So these are my words of wisdom to you on this Monday. If you are sad, do something constructive, and preferably something you really don't feel like doing. The entire Klingon homeworld can't be wrong.

Exactly!! I have always felt that the least rpoductive thing you can do is wallow. Granted, sometimes everybody needs a good wallow, but not for too long, or it gets to be unhealthy.

Of course, I have had a lot to be happy about lately, so I haven't been wallowing much, but...

Wallowing sometimes gives you a chance to do a little constructive thinking about your problems, but most of the time, it's just a self-serving reason to curl up into a ball and not function.

Great mantra, Fenriss!! :)

thank you
"The entire Klingon homeworld can't be wrong" just made me laugh a whole lot. And you are completely right (although my solution is usually exercise rather than work tasks). Did you know that a recent study showed unhappy workers are more productive than happy workers? It doesn't work if you make their work environment suck, though - they have to be unhappy from something outside of work.
