Played hooky yesterday, justified by my legitimately awful allergies, and having been kept awake by a bad cat (Dalilah, I've glaring in your direction) and a sudden fit of unaccountable nausea. Blargh.

In addition to lots and lots of preparation for Beltane, I have also taken on a big landscaping project and am trying to get a serious start on the certification and licensing process. Add to that the busy season for me at the day job, and I'm starting to feel dragged down pretty good. I won't deny that it's my own fault. I think the pattern is that I slack off and do nothing for a while (this happens pretty often in the winter months) and then I try to make up for it by doing too much, resulting in a crash and burn a few weeks in.

So let me make a general plea here:

if I have been slow in returning emails or have failed to show sufficient enthusiasm for any project or event of yours, please be lenient. I'll get to it. I'm just snowed under just now. You can choose to take that as an indication of weak character if you must, but please at least understand that yours isn't the only issue I'm having trouble focusing much energy on.

As a form of stress relief, I spent some time with cereselle this weekend playing with photoshop. She made me some fabulous Spike icons by way of demonstrating some of her techniques. Check these out:

I then made the icon I've attached to this post, in keeping with the Buffy theme. Not too bad, I dare say. But still not up to cereselle's standard of greatness. I did a Beltane themed one that I'll post later.

OK, now I'm going to focus on work, like I'm supposed to. I find that accomplishing a respectable amount of hard stuff makes me sleep better.
