Formative experiences

Here is a thread from Ask Metafilter. It's very long, but it's among the most amazing things I've ever read. If you are interested in the study of people and how they work, I highly recommend it.

This rocks.

I'm gonna leave the window open and read through it slowly for the rest of the day.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Got to the end, and posted my own anecdote.

Thanks, I've been reading it all day too. I'll have to refresh to get the newer ones.
I don't think I have a specific 'formative experience', but I'm grateful that my parents were always very accepting of what I wanted, and they taught me to read at a young age and bought me a lot of books, encyclopedia sets and educational magazines! From reading a lot of this page, it seems like I had the perfect Norman Rockwell childhood. *boggle* I wish I had realized that at the time.
