Cheering the fuck up

…but you know, I've been trying to do the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy thing on myself, and so I'm making those mental lists about "things I really have to feel bad about" vs. "things for which I damn well ought to be grateful." So in that spirit, I present my new icon. *points at icon*.

So I'm shutting up now with the self-pity.

Oh, also… I hear James Spader (the original Daniel, and perennial big-screen pervert) will be on the Daily Show next week. Hurray for the Daily Show! So I've got that goin' for me. tafkarfanfic I hope you will be somewhere you can watch it by then. I can try to tape it if you want, but I reckon there will be torrents available.

I agree and I disagree with your strat, but of course I are not you. It's good to attack your mood with the rational, but there are often times your mood makes no sense. Roll with it. Sometimes there is a reason for the mood, but like a dull ache you haven't figured out the source yet. Sometimes, hell sometimes it feels good to be sad.

If the mood holds you back or impacts your life for a period of time it is important to reign it in, but for short periods you might consider ratinoalizing first to see if you can find a reason for the mood, but even if you can't just letting it be for a while even if it has no real mom. Parent the gloom, it might need a home :)

I fear the mood has been impacting my life a bit lately. I gave it some parenting for a while (it's in my nature to parent anything I can get my hands on, really) but it's overstayed it's welcome.

Generally, though, I think that's some good advice you're dishing out there.

Your new icon ROXORS!

Hee. Thanks, hon. I'm trying to play with the "wistful color-wash and random swirlies" scool of design right now. Pretty sure I'll get sick of it within a month or so.

Oh, and as soon as I throw off this damnable inability to do anything but sulk in E's lap at night, you are the next icon subject on the slab! Mwahaha! (Hey, I think I feel a little better today :)

YES! That should be GREAT.

BTW, did you watch the Boston Legal tape I sent you? What did you think? Too real?
Feb. 9th, 2005 04:06 pm (UTC)
I left you a voicemail about this... I can't seem to find the episode on the tape you sent. There's Angel and Buffy, but no Boston Legal. I shall try and catch an episode at some point.

And, incidentally, that icon is soooo yummy! I take it it's from a recent ep? Is it the exchange with Replicarter? Guh!

I suddenly came down with the Februaries this morning, then realized it was probably just the Leonard Cohen CD I was listening to.

Which made me wonder: did I choose Leonard Cohen because I already had the Februaries, or did listening to LC give me the Februaries?

Chicken and egg thing.

Heh. Ol' Leonard is a February kind of guy, indeed. But so are a lot of my favorite musicians, come to think of it.

Mine too. Hee, go figure, right? :)

Y'know, I was never able to put a real cute, catchy name to the angst that seems to invade my psyche during February. "The Februaries"--I like it.

Thanks! (I'm not at all sure it's original, though.) :)
Feb. 9th, 2005 10:23 pm (UTC)
Original?? Phft! What difference does that make? I take great pride in stealing only from the best ;-)

Har! Oh yes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! :)

Awesome icon. Hmmm, maybe the Daily Show should be our next ritual. Call me, I'll chear you up! Remember, I can tell you some mad, bad jokes. he, he, he...

The trouble with the Daily Show is that it airs at 11 PM, and then again at 7 PM the next day. We could prolly manage the 7 PM one, if you got off work in time... it's tricky. I wish I had Tivo.

I'll call soon. Sorry to be such a stranger. Sigh.

Cool. Don't mean to be pushy. I'm just really busy at work. So, I keep forgetting to email during the day.

a joke to make my sister smile (hopefully)
The republican says to the democrat, "You know, I reckon I'm about ready for a vacation, only this year I'm gonna do it a little different. The last few years, I took your advice as to where to go. Two years ago you said to go to Hawaii, I went to Hawaii, and Marie got pregnant. Then last year, you told me to go to the Bahamas, I went to the Bahamas, and Marie got pregnant again."
The democrat says, "So what you gonna do different this year?"
The republican says, "This year, I'm takin' Marie with me..."
