We don't need no... oh, never mind.

Aww. This is kinda sweet. It almost makes me feel a little nostalgic. Except that when my friends were young and couldn't afford to go to cons, we'd pool our money to buy one badge, and then we'd scan it and... well, no point in dwelling on the past. Especially when I'm not sure what the statute of limitations is like for this kind of thing.

So, yeah. Winter depression. I'd been doing really very well so far this year, but the last few days have been rough. And, before you ask, no I haven't been doing all those good things I'm supposed to do. No light-box, not a lot of vitamins, no exercise since the daytime high have been hovering around freezing. I'm not sleeping very well either. I'm considering trying Gold's Gym again, since E goes there. I made the decision to cancel Curves after the election, because I just couldn't stand to have any of my money going to that jackass Heavin. I just... I really hate gyms, you know?

To be honest, I think that my impressions of places like Curves and other "womens workout" programs comes from a very biased perspective. To start out with, I'm very small and I actually want to get big. I have a huge bias towards free weights and a more intense workout because of this. To add to it, my dad was a semi-professional bodybuilder so I learned how to workout from him. He stopped learning in the 70's so not only am I on the opposite side of the spectrum as most woman going to health clubs, but I'm also coming from a very traditional slant.

I don't think I would do well at a place like Curves. I think that I would get VERY frustrated very fast. On the other hand, I might suggest it to my mom who is interested in a 30 minute, woman only type of workout. She's not comfortable with free weights or doing it on her own. Curves might suit her.

As far as the money goes, I've come to the conclusion that every company that I do business with is going to be giving money to something that I don't like whether it be the christian right, pro-life groups, handgun legislation, etc.
