Just in case any of you are feeling too loyal to the original Battlestar Galactica to check out the new series (although I cannot for the life of imagine why that would be, as the original was so cheesy that I avoided it as a 10 year-old) I give you the original Starbuck, whimpering about the new Starbuck being recast as a woman. Washed up, bigoted asshat.

The new Starbuck, portrayed by the lovely Katee Sackhoff? Hot as hell. And a much more interesting take on the character, too boot.

I'll be over here, handing out babies, as we women do. Jebus.

BG was my fave show as a kid, but I never did see a lot of redeeming qualities in Starbuck. Apollo was my man. (In as much as you could have a 'man' when you're 10)

That article though. Whoa. DB is coming off as waaay bitter. I know it's been a long time since he's been beefcake for America, but cripes. It's not like a remake will completely invalidate his own portrayal.

And, as you may be aware, the original Apollo is *in* the remake, so it's fair to say he's behind the new interpretation!

Gah. I just get worked up when people are so mean-spiritedly stupid. Sorry I dissed the original. Confession: I loved Star Trek TOS. It doesn't get any cheesier than that :)

Point of Information: Classic Trek wasn't all that cheesy back in the day. Well, most of the time.

Oh p'shaw! Don't worry about dissing it. It WAS pretty schmaltzy. Hell, my other favorite show was CHIPs. I make fun of my childhood viewing all the time. *g* Children have poor taste.

It's interesting though that even then, I thought Starbuck was "icky". So even though DB goes on about what a complete stud muffin Starbuck was back then, he obviously didn't appeal to everyone. He really just sounded so bitter in that interview. And almost as if he's accusing fans of the new show of not being open-minded, which is amusing since he seemed rather close-minded himself to accepting a female in his old role.

(Gah, my main memory of DB is this cheesy poster he made where all he's wearing are denim short shorts.)
