The comment I just made in feminist_rage:

If this passes...

the only way to make sure you are in compliance (as I understand biology) would be for all women in Virginia who have sex with men to report EVERY PERIOD to the cops. Which, if I lived in Va., I would totally start doing.

"Hello, cops? Yeah, I'm spotting a little. Could be a BABY. Who knows? Yeah, I WILL talk to you SOON."

I do live in VA. And if this bill passes (since I recently bought a house, and can't easily leave the state) I will TOTALLY be reporting my periods to the Fairfax County police. Every month. In graphic detail. Hey, as long as I use the non-emercency number, what can they do to me?

Thanks for the suggestion.

This is why the "life begins at conception" position is such a slippery slope: PREGNANCY doesn't begin until implantation, and not all fertilized ova implant. Unless all fertile, sexually active womnt are given amenorheic drugs, there is always a remote chance a "human" is getting flushed out with somebody's menses.

This is INSANE. splash_the_cat just wrote it up, too.

Lawmakers seriously need doctors on staff to look over proposed bills! The ignorance astounds me.

Yes, this is really outrageous. As a number of people mentioned, there is a huuuge difference between "trashcan babies" and spontaneous abortion. If they can, they'll sneak this wording in and I swear sometimes I think they don't READ it before they vote on it - they just listen to the description.

Granted, we live in a state where fornication and cohabitation are also midemenors, but this is particularly tasteless.

The report requires the following items for spontaneous fetal deaths:
[...]
sex of fetus

Get out your magnifying glasses, ladies!

You forgot "weight in grams".

So is this EVERYTHING that comes out, or do you need to use a centrifuge?

This is just beyond all reason. My mind feels numb.

So, not only would a woman have to mourn the loss of what should have been her child, she would be required to report it? Thus adding more salt to the wound? Fucking insane.
