an·ni·ver·sa·ry n. pl. an·ni·ver·sa·ries:
1. The annually recurring date of a past event, especially one of historical, national, or personal importance: a wedding anniversary; the anniversary of the founding of Rome.
2. A celebration commemorating such a date.

Sigh. In light of that, here are some things I am grateful for:

1. I can get away with Manic Panic hair at work (two parts “flaming” + one part “vampire red”).
2. The entire yard is now mowed and raked and relatively pretty. And this time next year, it will be mostly gardens anyway, so there will be less mowing to do.
3. Carrie had mercy on me and gave me a couple more days to finish my column.
4. Our cats are all well at the moment.
5. I got my new voter registration card in the mail.

I plan to take election day off. If you or any one you know is considering not voting because they can’t get to the polls, let me know. I’ll drive around all day if I have to.

I would really love to witness that scene. I'm totally for making a DIY "Kick the Vote Where it Counts" ad campaign aimed at freaks and slackers. Someone's got a digital video camera and some mad server space, right?

Got the camera, got the bandwidth. What's your idea?

I was basically riffing on Jack's "Voting Enforcer" thing he mentions in this comment. The content would basically come from Jack, in my "vision" such as it is, since Jack is best at being Jack. I could come up with some scripted scenes -- and I'll be in DC next week. Hey, Jack and Fenriss, would you two like to brainstorm with me? You too, remyheart, if you feel like it.

Whee, absolutely! I'll drag the boy into this as well; he's the camera guy.

We'll need to rerecord sound and synch it with the video, because the sound on our camera sounds like a home video camera. :)

I wonder if we could get music? If we're doing this all DIY, we should have our own music as well.

Kewl. You know, my husband is a musician. He gives great soundtrack. I'll try to wile him into helping. :)

Hi, remyheart. You DC area? Do I know you in RL? (I TOTALLY heart your Gay Marriage icon. I snarfed when I saw that on the Daily Show.)

True, that. I love his music. :)

And yes, darlin. This is my sekrit slash/darkfic identity, so I try to keep my name off it. But we gave you your holiday goblets for your wedding. :)

Feel free to steal the Gay Marriage icon-- the person who made it set it free to the world.

Wheee! One of my favorite people :) (If I'd thought hard about the name, I could have figured it out, I think.)

I am friending this identity of yours immediately, if you don't mind. Of late, I've been pretty heavily consumed by slash, etc. There's a lot of that going around. Must be something in the water.

Um, if you don't mind the really really REALLY FUCKING DARK, you can check out my RPG, Valimar. Darkity dark dark dark. I love it so.

There's also a link on my LJ to my fic site, which includes my stuff and my recs. All dark. Because I am dark, yo. ;)

Oh, yeah. Great concept! What's your timeframe like? I'd love to hang out and work through the possibilities. (Yay! Amy time!)

I would absolutely love to see you! What day do you leave? Can you email me your number, as I seem to lose it every time you leave town? :)

Absolutely. It's a date. Take the day off, and we will be a posse. Hell, if you don't mind taking the Eldo, we can make a real parade of it. Much amusement will ensue. Whether it'll be celebratory or a last bash before we have to settle into the ugly reality of Four More Years we'll have to wait and see.

As nice an idea as it is, I'm pretty sure I HAVE to be at work on election day, because it's a big news day and all. But I won't need to be there until 2ish, if you need help with the morning recruits.

(I stopped by your house while on a random drive Sunday, but you weren't home...)
