Bounce bounce!!

It's just about planting season! I'm so excited I could burst!

Let me introduce you to my favorite gardening link, You Grow Girl. It's really charming, even if you're not a gardener. There's lots of pretty images, and I found the following in the forums in a thread about animal life in the garden:

"Though every now and then we get some very loud birds and my little kitty listens to them and makes sweet "I want to eat them" mewling noises. I think those birds know she's there and are taunting her!"

How cute!

heeeeeee
i know exactly what they're talking about -- brazil (well, and mike and bambee, too) chirps at the birds. it's so amusing! it's like she's just SO frustrated and wants it SO bad that all she can do is make these little chirping noises... >:D

amusingly enough, at first i read your post as "it's almost _planning_ season", and all i could think was, "beltaine already?!" snrrrk

Re: heeeeeee
Actually, it is time to plan for Beltaine already. Are you on the Yahoo group I set up for it? if not, you should go sign up at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/beltanedc/. Wedding or no wedding, this event must go on!

Re: heeeeeee
hello lovely! i have just signed up for the beltane mailing list myself and i have forwarded stuff along to sister dear, who had expressed interest in attending the sordid feast this year. hopefully, we shall be able to work out transportation and all that. i had soooooo much fun last year and i am really looking forward to it again.

i feel bad, though, cause i haven't kept in touch with tammy and i should. :-( i is a bad person.

Re: Planting!
I did get my copy, and it's fabulous! Are there any left, so that I might send one to my Dad and Step-Mom, who financed the ad? Oh, and did you guys get the check I sent for that?

And what's the deadline for submissions for the next issue? Full of questions Fenriss

Have I ever told you you're cute when it gets springy out? ...and I totally know what you mean about your kitty and the birds. Mine's been purring me awake every morning and won't quit until I open the blinds so he can "hunt". He watches and chirps at me like "Hey, mom, look! Breakfast!" Or else he'll make a little low-pitched whine. He positions and re-positions himself on his cat condo until he finds the perfect way to launch himself at the window at the "purrrfffect" (I couldn't resist) moment and scare them all away!

Hi, sweetie!! My cats often also get the "twitchy butt" condition when they watch birds. It's so charming and sweet.

So, what do we have to do to get to see you and your boy again? It's been ages! Hugs!

Y'know, we keep saying "We *have* to get together with Eric and Rachel again". Life has been *crazy*...see my blog for more info: http://www.angelfire.com/rant/FrouFrouFox/index.html

But seriously, we can always get together for buffy one night or something else, really...just a matter of saying "let's do it" and doing it, eh?

*hugs* Miss you guys!

My kitty doesn't make cute mewling noises. She stares at bird balefully and CLICKS at them.

It's the stuff of nightmare. :)

But luckily she's so mild mannered the rest of the time that I don't worry too much.

i know i know!!
I've already begun planning out my annuals in the front and back yards. Oh, is there ever a better time of year than planting time?!

I just got a card from the owner of morning glory farm telling me that they couldn't find another location, which sucks because its right up the street from my house.

I guess I'll be driving out to merrifield garden center!

Indeed, there is no better time of year! Have you ever been to DeBaggio Herb Nursery? In addition to the most complete selection of herb plants (including dozens of basils and countless exotic medicinals and aromatics) they have scads of hot peppers, sweet peppers, tomatoes, greens and other veggies. It's the greatest. I'd love to put together a trip out there (it's in Chantilly).

And, of course, I'll take any excuse to go to Merrifield, the King of garden centers.

Plants. Sigh. Against my better judgement, I'm expaning all my raised beds, and digging up new patches of lawn this year. Somebody stop me!

Re: i know i know!!
I've got quite the set up. My husband likes to dig holes and fill them back up again, and does not care what goes in them! I just point him in a direction and give him a shovel.

I've been thinking of expanding myself, actually.

You should meet my mother, she's a master gardener. Very handy to have, we go NUTS at merrifield.
