Ragging on Facebook again

I owe LiveJournal a sincere apology for forsaking it for Facebook. That horrible place makes me miserable all the time. I seriously can't look at my FB feed without either seeing something I can't un-see, or getting my hackles up because of someone's Tea Party attitude, or ending up inadvertently fighting with someone. But, see, that's where everyone *is*. I can't help that that's where everyone spends all their time these days.

Dammit. I miss this place. I suppose I perpetuate the problem by not spending my social networking time here, but I just despair of the "social" part of it. There's hardly anyone who regularly reads LJ anymore, and it's depressing to feel like you're howling into a void. But at least, I guess, I could use it for the "journal" part. I kept a paper journal for many years, and never minded that nobody else read it.

Anyway. I'm really sorry, LiveJournal. You are infinitely superior to Facebook, for what it's worth.

I check here regularly too, although mostly lurking and reading, for what that's worth. Tumblr is kind of neat too, with lots of neat and cute pictures - in my feed, at least, along with the Pacific Rim and Super-Husbands (Steve/Tony) fanfic links.

Back over on Facebook, I've started either unfriending (in extreme cases), or, if I want to keep folks such as relatives on my friends list so I can communicate with them at will or check how they're doing, just removing from my newsfeed if their posts are full of grossness or Tea Party stuff or whatever. There's still a lot of blah stuff I just scroll through to check for actual interesting posts, even so, but it seems to keep the blood pressure down.

Nah, Tumblr doesn't appeal to me, because there's no room for discourse. All you can do is "repost." And I'm not really in it for the images, which seems like just about all it's good for.

And the thing is, my FB distress is just so *constant.* It seems like every single time I poke my head in, something awful happens. T do not think that removing individuals from my feed will fix the problem.

I have found ways to have discourse on Tumblr, amazingly! It works somewhat differently than LJ, but it does work.

That's me, too - Tumblr and LJ, for the most part, with a healthy dose of Twitter.
