Snow Madness

At least E is working from home today. It'd be a fool's errand to try to drive in this blizzard, charmingly named "Snoverkill" by local newscasters. We are a bit stir-crazy, and are starting to randomly sing bits of songs from the Simpsons. E just started singing "...el diablo con dinero!" for no apparent reason.

I have baked about 3 loaves of bread, a batch of cinnamon rolls and am now making about 5 dozen spiced oatmeal cookies. Yeah, blah blah blah calories. E has already put in about 6 hours of shoveling this week, so he deserves it. I'd share them with you if you could make it over here!

Hope everyone is safe and warm. And not suffering shut-in's dementia.

We are cozey on our side of Seven Corners, but very much feeling cooped up. Joey's done a little baking while I work. He's been doing the shoveling, but not starting on this round till the wind dies down a bit. I've been plying with hot chocolate as a reward.

So so ready for the sun to come out.

It's kind of nice how we're all being productive while trapped in our little homes. Baking seems like an obvious pastime. Wht has Joey been making?

Yeah... bring on spring. This crap is getting old.

Chocolate chip cookies. I did a cobler out of a box over the weekend. No idea how easy one from scratch would be but the kit was a breeze and made the house smell wonderful.

Mmmmm, cobbler.

I am lucky and only got about 2-3" down here (and "only" about a foot over the weekend), but that doesn't do me too much good, since the only place I want to go is up there anyway.

And I want cinnamon rolls!

I'll make you cinnamon rolls whenever the roads are clear enough for you to visit.

The only problems here:
1. I am out of bacon and other processed pork products.
2. I am out of kitteh ass-sand.
3. I am out of fancy (often stinky) cheese.
4. I am out of wasabi peas.
5. Beer stockpile is running seriously low.
6. Kitteh wet food is running seriously low.
7. Day-job is urging us to do work from home, despite Fed being closed down (well, that's not so bad).

Ray of sunshine:
1. I think I might make Kraft Dinner for, er, dinner.
2. I still have copious chocolate and coffee.
3. And tea and miso soop packets and...!

Well, that doesn't sound too bad! You have a grocery in your building, right?
Feb. 10th, 2010 07:34 pm (UTC)
True, but they lack #1 thru #4.

Man, that sounds great! I wish I didn't have reading, writing, and work to do. I shouldn't complain. I've been taking it really easy, but I have stuff I should be doing. Grr, grrr.

The cookies and cinnamon rolls sound delish! Vanessa made a rather calorie-intense brunch (bacon cheesy fries), citing her need for calories when she goes sledding. I will almost always side with bacon, but I'll be skipping the trek to the reservoir, thank you very much. (I hope she takes pictures! The view from the castle hill is one of the coolest in the city on non-snowy days, and I bet it's frickin' *breathtaking* right now!)

I'm *so* digging the whole snowed-in thing! I shan't apologize for my [possibly-annoying] glee, but rather will try to fling extra far and wide so that those without [possibly-annoying] amounts of glee can make use of the excess.

V has officially ventured out with her toboggan, despite me having passed on the governor's "stay home, bake bread, make tea and play chess and give your girlfriend a bitchin' footrub before she takes yet another hot bath with a book" mandate. She didn't believe me! *gasp!* I'm here with the pupster, about a jillion fun things to do/play with, and even though I spend a lot of time home anyway, what with the freelancy nature of my jobbyjob, it feels deliciously different, and I frickin love the snow. I especially love that I can pop outside, bounce around for eensy spurts of time until my gloves are soaked and my toes are burny and then dash right back inside for more tea and hot baths and puppy snuggling.

The puppy, we have discovered, shares this snow glee, and wnoder of wonders, is thoroughly dry 30 seconds or so after coming back into the house -- it's a glorious thing, for the easily amused. :> But yes, between all of us, we are safe and warm!

This seems completely sensible to me. Tell her I said so. :-) However, I'm doing my sledding tomorrow, since today was officially declared a "stay inside the house if you love your life" day in Maryland.

Snow Madness
i have beaten back the blues with my combo of PdF planning and pumpkin muffin baking. Today, work-from-home and shoveling! And possibly yoga class tonight, if it isn't cancelled. OMMMMMMM.....
