List 15 books you've read that will always stick with you -- list the first 15 you can recall in 15 minutes. Don't take too long to think about it. (In no particular order)

(via ego_likeness)

Dune, Frank Herbert
Siddhartha, Hermann Hesse
To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
Foundation, Isaac Asimov
The Stranger, Albert Camus
Tao Te Ching, LaoTze
Charlotte's Web, EB White
The Haunting of Hill House, Shirley Jackson
Cat's Cradle, Kurt Vonnegut
The Whisperer in Darkness, HP Lovecraft
The Master and Margarita, Mikhail Bulgakov
The Lesbian Body, Monique Wittig
Why I Am Not a Christian, Bertrand Russell
Dracula, Bram Stoker
Little House in the Big Woods, Laura Ingalls Wilder

OK, the fact that I included that last one should be proof that I am not editing this list for coolness! I could also throw in The Little Prince. I wonder why so many kids books come to mind?

Ooh, ooh. And Watership Down. Which is sort of a children's book, but woah.

You know, American Gods appears on almost every list I've seen! I haven't read it only because Eric has warned me that there's... well, a cat casualty. But there's one of those in Cat's Cradle too, and I lived through it.

Wow, I don't even remember the cat casualty in American Gods! I remember a vivid cat character... hmm... Ah well, I will now have to read it again!

Oh wow - Charlotte's Web, Cat's Cradle, and the Little House books could easily have been on my list too! (Yes, children's books are so often the MOST resonant.)

Yeah, they really are. I could almost do a whole list of children's books, in fact. Especially if you count the Madeleine L'Engle books as children's books.

Clan of the Cave Bear
The Story of Forgetting
Watership Down (wouldn't have thought of this without Rachel but what a wonderful book)
The Womens Book of Strength
One Hundred Yaers of Solitude
The Pokey Little Puppy
The Doors to Perception

Wow...I read a book a week easily and thats all I can think of at the moment. I am concerned about my memory these days. Not only have I forgotten the last book I read, I cannot tell you the names of the three I am reading now. Oh wait one is in my purse... Digging to America (but Im not impressed so its not on my list)
