I cannot believe it's only Wednesday. Vacations really weaken one's tolerance for sitting in front of a monitor for hours and hours writing about less than enthralling topics and answering snippy phone calls.

I wish I had some really significant, engaging or even weird things to say here, try this. I read it yesterday, and it gave me pause about many things (Eva, it might be of special interest to you, since it's set in SF.)

Buffy Question:
OK, here's something to get your mind off of work:

Now that I can watch Buffy again (yay) I have a question...where is her dad? How come he isn't helping them?

The writer does have a distinct, interesting POV and the kinds of things he says about SF seem pretty accurate, but I'm so...*done* with the homeless situation here that I'm a little frustrated to read about it. I walk by probably 20-40 homeless people in various states every morning - living in encampments under the highway, peeing on the bumpers of parked cars, pushing belongings in carts, having (sometimes violent) arguments with spouses, hanging out in front of the library waiting for it to open (to use the bathrooms), smoking crack or weed or even shooting up right in plain sight. And I only walk half a mile each way.

I know I sound awful and callous, but most days I just don't want to see them anymore.

These thoughts, today, however, are colored by the fact that a homeless crack addict (I'm not making a slur, she was found carrying a crack pipe) wandered through our office and stole my boss's wallet and palm pilot this morning and had to be forcibly chased down and arrested. So maybe I'm harsher on the subject than usual...
