Perchance to dream

Off for a sleep study in an hour. They are going to hook me up to all kinds of monitors and expect me to sleep in a strange bed. Without my husband. And we haven't slept apart in something like 7 or 8 years. Wish me luck, please.

What? I had no idea you were having serious sleep troubles. :(

Good luck with the study.

Well, ya know, I didn't really know it either. But I have always been fatigued a lot, and rarely wake up feeling rested. And Eric has noticed that I occasionally seem to sort of gasp in my sleep. I mentioned this during my annual physical, and my doc was like "...and you've had chronic depression issues your whole life, yet we've never checked this out???" Apparently apnea can be quite a contributing factor. So we shall see!

Best of British, as Candy is always telling me (whatever that means). Seems like they should at least let you take a pillow that smells like him along or something. I hope they can get some useful data despite the abnormal conditions. But yeah, the sleep apnea thing can definitely be a factor. One of my friends from the Absinthe Forum discovered that was a big part of her problem a few years back. Her husband made up her face-mask thingy to look like an Alien face-hugger. That's love, I tell you.

may you fall asleep easily, and if there's a problem to find, i hope they find it and fix it right quick.

Wow. I have so much respect for that. I don't think I could do it.

I am horribly confused by the times on this site, as they don't actually seem to be right for either my part of the world or yours, so I don't know if I'm too late to wish you Best of British - but I see someone has already beaten me to it (and don't think you won't get a spanking for your plagiarism Jack, I'll show you the meaning of honor system...), but I'm thinking good thoughts for you and I hope it goes / went well.

My dad actually participated in the study that designed the first CPAP machines for sleep apnea. The doctors said he had the worst case they had ever seen. He would stop breathing 200 or more times a night. He also had big anger issues. Once his apnea was identified and treated, though, his mood and demeanor improved immensely. It turns out getting a good night's sleep after going 30+ years without really does make a difference.

Fascinating story. Over 200 times? Wow. Amazing the guy could function like that. I'm glad to hear the CPAP treatment gave him some relief.

Now we'll see if I need it, too. I'm actually pretty optimistic about my ability to sleep with it on. It would be hard at first, but I think I would adjust pretty quickly.
