Phone Found

I actually got my phone back on Friday.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I feel like I should mention that I just utterly loath telephones. I've had so many miserable, traumatic experiences talking on phones that I have developed a cringe reaction when it rings. I always think someone is calling to tell me that someone has died, or some other horrible thing. So most of the time my ringer is off, and when I get voicemail I think "I'll have to be sure to call that person back" but I hate making calls so much, I put it off and put it off until I'm sure the person who called hates me.

Irma Bombeck once said that adolescence was the last time you're happy to hear that the phone is for you. I used to think that was nonsense, seeing as how I'm such an extrovert. But it turns out to be absolutely true for me.

And furthermore, it's going to be gray and rainy all week. Grump grump grump. Tell me something happy, maybe? Remember when I told you about the beautiful gay man saving puppies? Come on, internets. Help me out here.

gray and rainy
But...April showers bring May flowers!

I know, I know...I got nothing. I assume you saw the CO video of the Scottish Fold kitten, yes?

Re: gray and rainy
Was that video from a while back, or fairly recent? I've been out of the CO loop for a while. I should check in.

Re: gray and rainy
Just a few days ago. You have to see it! It's...like a cat made entriely of spheres.

Damn, it's good to know I'm not the only one who does this. And I hate making calls so much that I remember getting in a fight with my ex over calling for pizza because neither of us wanted to use the phone.

Um, happy... Sorry, I'm back on John Barrowman saving puppies because you mentioned it again. :)

This is why Pizza Hut's online ordering is a godsend. I bless them for catering to us introverts for once. :)

And I'm an extrovert! But I still hate making calls.

Oh, I am so with you. Gods, I hate the phone.

Hee! Yeah, I had heard, in fact. I didn't realize right away that this is what you meant. But, nevertheless, squeeeee!

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates the phone! If it wasn't for the Internet, email, text, etc., I'd never be able to communicate.

Sorry I have no happy Internet stuff to share...it's been that kind of week. :/

No worries. I totally understand. Is a little April sunshine too much to ask for? Sigh...

I have phone phobia, too. still, I'm glad you got yours back. Something good: an honest cabbie who returned your phone. :)

I see Joan A. beat me to the "April Showers Bring May Flowers" thing. I suggest a hearty dose of cuteoverload.com.

Hee! Yay! I'm glad you lurve them. :)

Ooh, another good thing: Radio Dismuke. Free big band and roaring 20s music. I often play it on grey days and it does not fail to cheer me up. http://www.dismuke.org/radio/

This came from the post on my flist directly above yours.

"I've just had to speak to someone with the first name 'Wankit' and I couldn't laugh."

There ya go. :)

Thanks, darlin'. I once had to mail a letter to a guy named Blamo B. Seekie. It still makes me laugh.

"Oh, Honey, let's give the baby a traditional name. I like Kerplunk."

"Nope. All the first born boys in my family were Blamos!"

There was a Harry Huge who always used to pay by credit card in the bar where I worked. We'd quietly discuss whether he was a porn star or a character in a children's book.

Happy internet thing: I got first place in a round of Facebook bogglescramble over the weekend! First time ever.

Happy non-internet thing: My western slope is crammed full of daffodils! The first of my tulips opened last weekend! Cherry tree in full bloom! Plus regular hyacinth, grape hyacinth, chionodoxa and windflower. Let me know if you'd like to stop by Sunday afternoon for tea and garden viewing.

Ooh, sounds lovely! I'm afraid this Sunday won't work, due to a whole bunch of... stuff. However, the offer is very generous, and I'd love to take you up on it. Any chance after next Book Club would work?
