How bout that

Two days after the ice storm, and my car is still frozen in place. And after temps in the 20s today, I can't chop the ice outta the way with a plastic snow shovel, of course. Time to break out the iron rakes and garden shovels. Ugh.

Spring now please?

I have not seen you in 3,765 years. Fer reals.

OMG, I KNOW, right? Totally sucks. We hates our schedule, precious.

I'm gonna call you on the telephone one of these days, with my calendar right in front of me. So help me!

(this reply brought to you by cabin fever, and the letter EEEEEEEEE!)

Dude, my boss gave me some good advice about jsut this; Hot HOT water with TABLE SALT in. the salt will prevent it from re-freezing. Just a cup or so per gallon will do.

Just pour it over the car and around.

Ooh. That sounds like it could work! I'm very wary of using water, of course, but it totally makes sense that salt water wouldn't refreeze.

Yupyup. makese sense to me. I'm tempted to try it out on a patch outside first, and then maybe sluice down our icy porch, because that slippery is kind of out of control.

...I really with Phoenix and I had thought to buy a new shovel and some ice melt before this hit. Augh.

Hot water + cold surfaces=rapid expansion. You can break a windshield that way.
Feb. 15th, 2007 10:38 pm (UTC)
It's been freezing here, too. It got down to about 48 last night, and I had to turn on my electric blanket to keep my toes (and cat) warm. I'm soooo ready for Spring.
Feb. 15th, 2007 11:06 pm (UTC)
*whimper* That's about as cold as it gets there, yes? I mean, I know cold is relative, but, d00d... I'd be so very happy to see 48 right about now.

No offense intended. I figure my Wisconsin kin think I'm a right wimp for whinging over the teens and twenties, but this is Virginia!

Anyway, I hope you and your cat can keep each other warm till spring.
Feb. 15th, 2007 11:11 pm (UTC)
No, I'm totally kidding - yes it was 48, but no, that's not cold. And yeah, it doesn't get much colder...but I'll still go out in just a t-shirt. ;)

You know, I've been having fun with this Australian client of mine. She says a high of 50 in the middle of winter is cold enough to make the papaers where she's from, so her kids are having the time of their lives with "all this snow." It's really all about your perspective.

Oh, and by the way, it's also sunny every day, with bright blue skies, fleecy clouds, and the ocean as clear as a sapphire on an engagement ring.

SAD sufferers really ought to avoid the dismal months the easy way.

Aaaaaaaaaah!!! You people! You STOP trying to tempt me west!!!

Look here. If I so much as visit CA, I know I will never come back. Vegetarian restaurants? Bellydance scene? Queer friendly? Funky culture? Beautiful weather? No thanks. I think I'll stay inside the beltway and spend my days pounding the cricks out of the necks of miserable bureaucrats in the murky gray cold, thanks. It's... what... I... CHOOSE!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the poster-child for cognitive dissonance - Fenriss!!!

I used a hammer to get the stuff off my car.
Feb. 15th, 2007 11:29 pm (UTC)
Actually, the husband recommened I try the rubber mallet. We'll be making another attempt later. Thanks for the suggestion.

Also, hi! Hope you're doing well.
Feb. 15th, 2007 11:32 pm (UTC)
Hi! I am doing well! Want to hang with you again soon!
Good luck with the Rubber Mallet!
Feb. 16th, 2007 05:35 pm (UTC)
Would totally love to hang out some time! I've got that crazy massage therpist's schedule where I have limited weekend hours, but some thing could be worked out, I'm sure.

Whereabouts do you live? I can't recall.
Feb. 16th, 2007 06:48 pm (UTC)
Manassas :)
I'm available some evenings- maybe we can do dinner. :)

I just loaned me sledge hammer to my neighbor. I think it is time for Thor.

Loki with never win.
Feb. 16th, 2007 05:35 pm (UTC)
Re: Thor
Well, it was by the power of the hammer that we managed to dig out. Take that, Loki!

I was going to tell you about how the other night it was so balmy that David and I went and swam in his mom's backyard pool, but I see that aghrivaine already has a handle on the 'torture Fenriss until she moves to California' deal.

*shakes little fist at you*
Feb. 16th, 2007 05:19 am (UTC)
*lures you to the Florida commune*

The high tomorrow is 57! And that's pretty much the coldest weather we've had all year!

Also, there is no snow in SL if you don't want it. :) I am practicing making clothes, and I found out stuff about building and buying land, so I'm downloading textures. Let me know if you're free anytime to meet up in there, and we can go land shopping. :)
Feb. 16th, 2007 05:39 pm (UTC)
Although, I think the snow in SL is awfully pretty!

Woohoo! Big fun! Have you found some good tutorials? I understand there are some classes that happen in-world, too.

I assume you're working usual business hours these days? Is that right? I'm afraid my schedule totally sux0rz. My evening and weekend hours are kinda limited, especially since E is pretty jealous of our time together. However, I'm sure we kind find some time somewhere.

Your spring, as requested, arrived...then left. Drat this wind.
Feb. 23rd, 2007 07:40 pm (UTC)
It's always a tease like that. I'm used to it. It will come eventually, and then I will be happy and manic, and take on too many projects.
