I sure hope our AC holds up for a couple more weeks. It appears to be slowly crapping out on us. I mean, it's still significantly cooler inside, but it struggles to keep things in the high 70s or low 80s, where it used to cheerfully make it chilly in here on the hottest summer days.

I seriously worry about the cats when I'm gone for more than a few hours at a time.

Hey, remember the 213 things Skippy is no longer allowed to do in the U.S. Army? There are now 213 things Skippy is no longer allowed to do at the SGC (Note: funny in direct proportion to how much you know about SG-1)

Today, I will hopefully be getting tattooed! Yay!

Ooh, and who's going out to Alchemy tonight? It's the new venue opening, so you totally gotta go! (Well, you don't actually have to, but it would be cool if you did.)

*buzzes off*

And I just happened to be watching the "Gay Marriage" episode of the Simpsons, where Homer starts marrying all the gay couples who the church & courthouse won't . . . although it's mostly because he's discovered that he can make $200 per wedding. (I snorted when he made the "So, is it going to be Adam and Steve, or Madam and Eve" comment!)

He runs out of couples to marry, and is scheming to think of more people who might be available . . . he says "Lenny and Carl?" and Marge replies, reprovingly, "You've got to let them figure it out for themselves!"

I thought it was cute as hell ^_^

(And if that's the particular episode you're referring to, as opposed to Lenny & Carl in general, I apologize for extensively paraphrasing it in your journal.)

How is the new Alchemy venue, btw? I need to make it out there myself at some point relatively soon . . . my problem is that if K drives, we have to leave at midnight (he has to be at work in DC at 7:30 on weekdays), so I've been waiting for a night when I felt well enough to drive myself. *looks at watch, continues waiting*

I dreamed about you guys last night -- obviously the Universe is telling me that it's been too long since I've seen you!

Hey there! Just now getting around to replying to a lot of back-comments. SOrry it took me so long.

I wasn't expeically referring to that episode, but just the general Lenny/Carl vibe. And I didn't remember all the gags from that ep, so thanks for reminding me.

Alchemy venue: many plusses and minuses. It's beautiful. It's all built-out like a stage set, really. The places to sit are many, and the lighting is cool, and the rooms are all painted different colors, and the bathrooms are really pretty posh. But there are 4 DJs going at once, in a space rather smaller than Nation was, and the sound-proofing is pretty crappy. There are some places where the bleed-through is so bad, you're just standing in the middle of a big whirl-pool of undifferentiated sound.

I dunno. So far, E and I are liking it. Hope you can make it out soon! *smooch*

Ooohhh -- good to hear that the venue is nice!! I hope they can get the sound issues worked out, but it really sounds like the plusses outweigh the minuses for those of us who are deef anyway *grin*

I would *love* to get together with you guys (at Nation and/or elsewhere) -- actually, are there any nights that are good for you next week? Or otherwise?

Hey, hon. We generally try to get out to Alchemy almost every Thursday (trying to support the scene, you know). We are awfully busy lately, and it's hard for us to block out nights. I'm starting to work later, as well. So I'm not sure when we could make plans to get together. Can we start with meeting up at Alchemy some night soon? That would probably be best for us.

oh, and i meant to add: bear in mind that "the hottest summer days" were previously about 10 degrees cooler. even good air conditioners have their limits.

Yay! Looking forward to it. I plan to bring cash with which to purchase the Key to the Library at Alexandria (...how often can you say *that* about a night out at a club?)

I loved that list esp. 88. I should not refer to Teal’c or Master Bra’tac’s tattoos as hood ornaments.

If your tattoo doesn't happen today, you could always wait until I get in town. *wink wink* JK

Bwah! Thought you might like it :)

PS: totally looking forward to having you back in the area, hon. And I'd love to get some work from you soon, if you're up for that. Yay!

Well, I start at my new job on Tuesday so I would be available anytime you wanted to take a weekend trip out to WV. I am also hoping to do a Sun/Mon working trip around the first of Sept. I just don't know where I'll end up working at during that trip.

Err... did I call Skippy a grunt?
