Notaries

Question for you good folks; where does one generally find a notary? It seems like an awful lot of people I meet in passing mention that they are notaries, but you can never find one when you need one. I understand banks often have them, and I can go to the Wachovia near my house if necessary, but does anyone know of a quick in-and-out notary in DC who isn't too expensive?

Your bank should do it for free.

citizen_ken keeps joking about becoming a notary, and just showing up at events as a "sp00ky notary". He should really do it!

I bet he could actually make some pocket change that way! Is there a law against notarizing frivolous documents? Like, Transfer of Soul contracts, and things like that?

I doubt it. People get all sorts of personal agreements notarized. The whole thing seems very 19th century to me, since the notary deosn't really look at the document or know who you are...they just check your ID and stamp your paper.

Holy crap! All we need to do is get him a quill pen and an inkpot with some sort of brownish-red ink, and we can set him up at horror cons or black metal shows, or something. Soul-brokering alone could be a huge seller. He could notarize minion contracts, or suicide pacts... the possibilities are endless!
