Mine certainly needs no convincing, but just in case yours does: Convince Your Mom.

Good sons/daughters don't let their moms vote for Bush. (Yoinked from chadu

I often miss my parents, but for this election I'm glad they live in PA.

The last time I was up there my (mostly apolitical) dad really surprised me with an anti-Bush tirade. He said that any man his age had to make a decision about what to do during Vietnam, and everyone knew that the Guard was for the "fortunate sons."

(Not like today, of course...)

Yeah, I'm really surprised (although perhaps I shouldn't be) at how much opposition Shrub gets from the military. I think there is a general feeling that this is a guy who is willing to abuse his power as Commander in Chief for his own petty purposes. It seems like, as much as he's in bed with wealthy military contractors, he really hasn't got a lot of love for G.I. Joe. He'll cheerfully cut soldiers' pay if it means he can cut taxes even deeper...

Sorry to go off on you like this, hon. I promise to knock it off after the election is over.

Don't worry about it. You know when I start talking politics in public, I'm pretty fired up.

The sad thing? None of those arguments will convince my mom.

I love her dearly, but the woman is fixated. I can't understand why such a good person could believe in such an evil man.

And she's a Florida voter. Aieeee.

At least my youngest sister might cancel her out. We're working on it...

Yeah. It just stuns me when good people hold wrong -headed opinions. I can think of at least one friend who is going to vote for Bush, and yet I truly think he has a good heart. Boggling.

Sorry about your mom, sweetie. Just misguided, I am certain.

She sure is. :)

You should have heard her about Scalia a couple of years ago: ". . . that goddamned fascist Italian American Son of a Bitch shouldn't be allowed in this country. I AM an Italian American, and I know an Italian fascist when I see one!!! Can you imagine putting people in jail for what they do privately in their own homes?? . . ."
