I would be interested to know

those people I know (and there are some) who think that suicide is the act of a coward... why aren't they sending me messages congratulating me on my courage every day I manage to stay alive?

a tangent, not an analogy
That reminds me of the people who said I was lucky, when I got hit by an SUV (on the sidewalk) and broke 2 bones in my arm. When I had my act together I started replying that actually the people who didn't get hit by cars were luckier? But we don't notice all the people walking around not being hit by cars.

Anyway (((HUGS!)))

And I actually DO think you're brave and courageous, too.

I don't think they see cowardice as the inverse of bravery. I don't know what they see it as. They're stupid people, saying that.

Because staying alive is an expectation. They expect you to stay alive, they expect you to not be depressed, and they expect that everyone can fight those demons to success. They are limited by their own experiences to think that it is easy to overcome. And it isn't. Clearly. HUG
