Dexter

So, this show about an “ethical serial killer” everyone’s talking about… how violent? I mean, I figure it’s gonna be at least somewhat violent, but how graphic? Are there scenes of gratuitous torture, or is it just bloody? Because I can handle a degree of bloody, as long as there aren’t realistic depictions of suffering. I totally can’t take that kind of thing.

Just trying to fill the dark November evenings. Sigh.

I think you'll like it. Allison and I got hooked on it. It's not gory or really that violent.

I've only seen the first episode but I liked it. Intellectual, entertaining, and creepy all at the same time.

I think you and I are pretty close in what we can handle, and it wasn't too much for me. There were one or two scenes in the entire first season that came close to being too much, but overall I think you'll enjoy it.

some of it is rather gore splattered, but as mentioned above a lot of that is crime scenes - that said, there are a couple of scenes in season one that would have squicked me out had i not been so into the series...

it's worth a shot as it's really well written and acted though imo

Umm....I like it, which might mean you will absolutely find it too violent. It's not "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer", and it's not the psychological thriller of Hitchcock or the random and easily deduced "Saw" series, but it is up there in the violence/gore quotient every now and then.
