One more work day

I am antsy. It's only a four day weekend for me, but I've been looking forward to this mini-vacation for months. Tonight, my honey is picking me up from work so we can go "help" Ego Likeness and Cruxshadows load in (which really means we will be observing the process). Very much looking forward to that. But the six hours until then stretch out long before me.

Here are some (mostly seasonal) things that make me happy:

The Big Brew bar at 7-11! With the coffee, hot cocoa, steamed milk and various other additives, there are over 1,300 possible hot beverages! We truly live in great times. The pumpkin spice latte is almost enough to convince me that sugar goes with coffee. OMG, yum.

E and I have gotten hours of entertainment out of the Dracula Legacy Collection. We paid $20 for it, and have been enjoying it for a couple of weeks, one movie or documentary at a time.

Here is an hilarious story, and Halloweeny to boot, by the very talented Amy of Spasms Project fame.

Ooh! and also, the Annotated Poe, for your sp00ky literature pleasure.

There. Those are my best Halloween treats for the moment. Anybody else got any? Keep me occupied, or I will have to do actual work!

We will be there tonight, too! I hope you enjoy your 4 day weekend. Tomorrow morning will come too soon and I'll be wishing I'd arranged for the same.

Don't know if you've visited this one before, but if not, give it a try, it definitely has the Halloweeny atmosphere: http://www.mypetskeleton.com

I adore you.

There are hardly any 7-11s here, so I've moved to expensive, uppity coffee.

I adore you, too :)

I guess one can't really go West without getting snobby about coffee these days. It is unavoidable. Me, I like the good stuff and the cheap stuff pretty much equally. I'm a rube.

One can go West. One can't go to Northern California.

Got to the Midwest and it becomes almost impossible to *be* snobby about coffee. Take Columbia, MO, where my aunt and uncle live (please, take it). It's a college town of almost 100,000 people... with no Starbucks and no equivalents that we could find.

How awful. My experience with Midwestern college towns is Madison, so I probably have a skewed perspective.

Well, take my word for it. Life has been grueling enough that my short vacation in September didn't take the edge off the stress. And I will be doing a lot more massage once I've taken the certification board in about a month. Until then, all my free time is pretty much taken up with studying for that.

Frankly? I could seriously use a massage!

If you get this before you leave, please tell Rogue hello from the girl in the pink prom dress whose YEAR he made by dancing with her TWICE at the show in Northampton!!!

Yeah, that would be me.

*ded of squee, still high from concert energy*

Didn't see this comment till after the show, I'm afraid. That's a neat annecdote. Rogue seems like a lovely fellow. We had a great time. I'd never seen Cruxshadows live before, and it certainly is an impressive spectacle. And the violin... whoah.

When you saw them did you see Ego Likeness, too? We're so proud of those guys! They've been sort of mentoring Eric with his music, and they're so cool and supportive. They've been driving around the country for a month now, on a tour of about 35 shows. Apparently, Cruxshadows does upwards of 100 shows a year! I don't know how they do it. Hardest working goths in show biz :)

Yes, Ego Likeness opened, and I now have one of their CDs, signed (go me for keeping a silver Sharpie in my jacket pocket). They were awfully good, too. And I could watch Steve dance ALL NIGHT. Wow.

I am currently pestering _ccmc, the 16-year-old lead fiddler for the traditional Irish band that shadowflyer plays bodhran in, to listen to some Cruxshadows to hear what they do with the violin. I agree... whoa.

Hardest working goths in show biz. *giggles* Love it!
